Martellus Bennett and a microphone go together like peanut butter and jelly, and Monday night was no exception.
The talented tight end was named Bear of the Year at Monday's Comcast SportsNet Sports Awards, and as he usually does when give the stage, he went on a quote-filled speech about his wife and future daughter, creativity, imagination and even "white men in four-buttoned suits."
His main message, however, was to give the children helped out by the March of Dimes foundation a better tomorrow.
"What is the world going to be for my daughter? What can I bring to the world that will make it better for her? And my number 1 thought was, 'What does the world need?' And it came back to imagination," Bennett said, "because imagination would be how kids would bring solutions to the problems that we have.
"I don't want to be a role model. I want to be an inspiration. And so I want to inspire kids to start stepping out of the box to do things that are creative."
