Mercer escapes Florida Gulf Coast 77-70 in OT

MACON, Ga. (AP) Travis Smith tallied 21 points and Langston Hall scored seven of his 17 points in overtime of Mercer's 77-70 win over Florida Gulf Coast on Wednesday night in Atlantic Sun Conference play.

Jakob Gollon added 12 points for Mercer, including 3-pointers to open the first half and overtime.

Mercer (9-6) led 62-57 with just 1:28 remaining, but Chase Fieler made two free throws and Filip Cvjeticanin sank a 3-pointer with 26 seconds showing to send the game into overtime.

After Gollon's 3 opened overtime scoring, Daniel Coursey scored five straight points for Mercer to put the Bears up 70-66 with 1:40 left in the extra period. Florida Gulf Coast cut it to two, 70-68, but Hall converted seven free throws over the final minute to pull away.

Fieler led the Eagles (9-6) with 17 and Bernard Thompson, whose layup at the buzzer created the final margin, had 16.
