The Bears only have seven picks in the upcoming draft, but John "Moon" Mullin predicts they'll find a way to spend eight on the defensive side of the ball.
"I think they'll probably use all eight of them, if they can squeeze an extra (pick) out. All eight of their seven picks will be on defense," the CSNChicago.com Bears Insider joked when he joined the latest edition of The Rundown on Tuesday.
In all seriousness, though, Mullin believes the team's focus will be squarely on defense when the draft arrives in April.
"I would be shocked if the first four are not defense," Mullin said. "You're looking for guys who even at that level could not only make your roster but make it as a position player not just a throw-in special teams guy. Hard to see them using all seven of the picks, every pick on defense because at some point you're going to see somebody you didn't expect to be there, and maybe it's a running back, maybe it's an offensive lineman who's too good to pass up. The emphasis is going to be on defense. I would be a little surprised if they don't use two of the first three even on defensive linemen. I think that's where the attention has to focus."
