Jordan Palmer didn't stay a free agent long.

After being released by the Bears on Sunday, a report from ESPN's Field Yates says the Buffalo Bills will sign the former backup signal caller.

The Bills have Jeff Tuel and Thaddeus Lewis competing for the No. 2 job behind starter E.J. Manuel. The Bills and Bears also face each other in Week 1 of the regular season on Sept. 7, so there may be a scouting angle the Bills are trying to go after here.

Palmer was beat out by Jimmy Clausen for the back-up job behind Jay Cutler. He had kind words to say about the Bears on his way out, calling Chicago the best organization in the NFL.
