It could be worse, Bears fans.
Sure, Jay Cutler will miss at least four weeks after suffering a groin injury in Sunday's game against the Redskins. But the Rams, who lost Sam Bradford for the season on Sunday with an ACL tear, are far more desperate. St. Louis is so desperate, in fact, that ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that the Rams checked in with Brett Favre.
That's right, Brett Favre.
St. Louis called Brett Favre, asking if the 44-year-old QB if he would be willing to play. Favre declined. More to story on ESPN all day.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) October 24, 2013
According to Schefter's report, the Rams called Favre's agent, Bus Cook, on Sunday night, hours after Bradford went down with his injury. Favre, the former Packers, Jets and Vikings quarterback and longtime Bears rival who announced retirement only to return months later on more than one occasion, said he had no interest.
So, though fans might be missing Cutler over the following weeks while watching Josh McCown under center for the Bears, at least they'll know the Monsters of the Midway didn't try to coax Brett Favre out of retirement ... again. Plus, Favre in a Bears uniform? That just wouldn't look right, would it?
