To play or not to play? That is the question.

The Bears open their preseason schedule tomorrow against the Carolina Panthers, and head coach Marc Trestman said Jay Cutler and the rest of the starters will play sparingly. This is standard operating procedure around the league, as teams need to see as much from bubble roster players as possible, but should Trestman let the first team offense get additional repetitions as they work to learn the new system?

Digital web producers Tony Andracki and Mark Strotman discuss Trestman's decision and more in Thursday's edition of The Rundown.

Also discussed are starting pitcher Jeff Samardzija's recent woes. After allowing nine earned runs in less than four innings today in a loss to the Phillies, there are questions as to what his future in Chicago is. What fans do know, however, is that the future is bright with players such as Javier Baez and Dan Vogelbach dominating in the minors. Check out Tony's writeup on the latter in the latest edition of The Foundation.

Also, Alex Rios and Adam Dunn may potentially be on the move. Rios was claimed off waivers by an anonymous team -- reported to be the Rangers -- and the White Sox now have to decide whether to pull him back or work out a deal and, in the process, shed salary.

That and more in today's edition of The Rundown. Check out the video above for more discussion.
