Bears defensive linemen were held without a sack of Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (Nate Collins, Shea McClellin and Corey Wootton were each credited with a quarterback hit) but the linebacker group picked them up.

Middle linebacker D.J. Williams turned two blitzes into sacks, one resulting in a forced fumble that was recovered by strongside linebacker James Anderson to set up the Bears’ first touchdown. The third Bears sack came on a Lance Briggs blitz. Williams also turned in a quarterback hit of his own.

For Williams, who missed so much of training camp and all of preseason with a calf injury, the result was especially gratifying.

“It’s continuous,” Williams said. “It has only been a month of football [since his return]. It’s the third game of the season. I’m just coming in trying to help the team.”
