The New Orleans Saints are traveling to Chicago earlier than expected.
The Saints aren’t taking any chances with Tropical Storm Karen, which appears to be a mild hurricane that is likely to hit the Gulf Coast Saturday. The team is traveling to Chicago Friday night rather than Saturday to avoid the chances of weather-related issues, according to Pro Football Talk.
“We’re able to handle this pretty smoothly ... just to be smart and not get caught up in what really sounds more like a wind issue potentially on Saturday,” Saints head coach Sean Payton said to reporters.
The last time the Saints left early for a regular-season game occurred when Hurricane Gustav struck Louisiana in 2008.
