Whether or not it had anything to do with him being shut out last Sunday by a second-tier left tackle is pure conjecture, but the Bears sent defensive end Julius Peppers home on Thursday with what were described as flu-like symptoms.

The reason was to ensure that he did not pass along any illness, because “he had a little bit of a fever and a little flu-ish, so instead of being around the team, the trainers sent him home, he went to see the doctor, (we’re) sure he’ll be back nothing serious there.”

Peppers has missed just two games in the last 10 years, those in 2007 when he suffered a knee injury as a Carolina Panther.

Cornerback Charles Tillman was excused for family matters after being limited Wednesday with slight knee soreness.
