The Bears allowed 29.9 points per game on defense last year, tied for 30th in the NFL. They were also ranked last in rush yards allowed per game at 161.4.
With the additions of key free agents Jared Allen and Lamarr Houston, the SportsTalk Live panel expects the Bears defense to improve in 2014. But just how much?
"They have to be better. That was some of the worst defense we saw in our lifetime last year," ESPN Chicago's Jeff Dickerson said. "I think definitely it's going to be a better defense. They don't have to be world beaters, just be good enough."
Sun-Times' Mark Potash said: "I think the Bears are going to be significantly improved on defense. I think they'll be 15th or higher in total defense. The question is, will they regain that takeaway mentality that they had under Lovie Smith?"
