According to a report in the Chicago Tribune, Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher was rushed out of town Tuesday night to attend to a family emergency in Arizona.

Specifics are not yet know, but it is believed to involve Urlacher's mother.

Urlacher is expected to be away from the team for several days and his status for Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints is unclear at this time. His teammates, Bears coaches and front office members are aware of the situation.

Urlacher had 10 tackles, an interception and a fumble recovery for a touchdown in the Bears' Week 1 win over the Atlanta Falcons.

His mother, Lavoyda, raised Brian and his younger brother Casey and older sister Sheri in Lovington, N.M. The family has remained close and Lavoyda maintains a strong presence in Urlacher's life.
