Eastern Illinois quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has always dreamed of playing for his hometown Bears.
But there's a chance he may have to settle for playing against his hometown team twice a year.
According to a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Minnesota Vikings hosted a private workout for Garoppolo on Friday.
The Vikings, who hold the eighth overall selection in the 2014 NFL Draft, are expected to select a quarterback at some point in May. Garoppolo -- a projected second-round pick -- likely won't hear his name called on Day 1, but there's a good chance he could be available when the Vikings are on the clock at No. 40.
Although if it were up to former Washington Redskins and Houston Texans general manager Charlie Casserly, he would have no problem taking Garoppolo over some of the more highly touted quarterbacks. Casserly told WDAE-AM in Tampa Bay that he feels Garoppolo has probably the best tape of all the quarterbacks in the draft and that people are sleeping on him.
However, Vikings fans may want the team to pass on taking a signal-caller higher than his projection indicates. The last quarterback they reached for was Christian Ponder in the 2012 NFL Draft, and we all saw how far that set the franchise back.
