Matt Forte totaled just 33 yards on 17 carries, one of the poorest outings of his career. He was targeted on seven passes, not all of them well thrown, and caught four but averaged only four yards per reception.
Michael Bush came in for one carry and failed on a fourth-down conversion.
“I think in the second half we just didn’t keep the ball long enough to keep their offense off the field,” Forte said.
Forte’s blocking broke down on the second two-point conversion attempt in the fourth quarter, and the play call and design can be questioned, but the only thing that counts is the result.
Forte’s block on linebacker Stephen Tulloch gave Jay Cutler time to complete a much-needed third-down throw in the second quarter and Forte was strong in protections throughout.
