Charles Tillman started despite knee and groin injuries and the secondary did manage to escape with allowing Calvin Johnson just four catches for 44 yards and a touchdown, although that was some of Matthew Stafford’s doing as much as the secondary. Tillman was replaced by Zackary Bowman in the second half.

But Stafford was off on several throws, particularly throwing high to Calvin Johnson, saving the Bears from some big plays in the first quarter. Major Wright got his second interception of the season when Johnson mishandled a pass and it bounced up in the air to Wright, who combined with Chris Conte for 12 tackles.

Tackling by the defensive backs was poor, both in slowing and wrapping up Reggie Bush, and in fills against the run. “Tackling [was the problem],” Wright said. “Defense, we definitely need to go out and make our tackles. With a good back like Reggie Bush you can’t let him get in the open field and having the field like he did.”
