The offense and special teams put the defense in miserable field position (three times inside the Chicago 35 in the second quarter) but the Detroit Lions also had four drives of 50 yards or longer, all resulting in points.
Tackling Reggie Bush is never easy but Bears linebackers were unable to close gaps and keep Bush from doing real damage on the second level.
The Lions used nickel packages two-thirds of the time, taking middle linebacker D.J. Williams off the field, but James Anderson and Lance Briggs had their poorest games of the year and were no help in pass coverage on tight end Brandon Pettigrew (seven catches) or Bush and Joique Bell out of the backfield (combined eight catches).
“We weren’t where we were supposed to be when we were supposed to be there,” Briggs said.
