Week 4 Bears Grades

There is no data to display.

Blocking on the right side was superb on Matt Forte’s 53-yard touchdown run, with tackle Jordan Mills sealing the edge and Kyle Long locking up Ndamukong Suh inside.

But matters deteriorated into the second half when the right side failed to pick up Suh on an outside loop, and he knocked the ball loose for a sack/strip and a recovery/four-yard TD by Nick Fairley.

Jay Cutler was sacked only once in the first half, when Long flung Suh down and Suh landed at Cutler’s feet.

But a Long holding penalty negated a third-down conversion, and Mills drew flags for holding and a false start.

Center Roberto Garza was solid in providing help blocks on both Lions tackles. The overall line play, however, failed to gain any consistent control of the line of scrimmage, giving up six hits on Cutler.

“We knew what they were going to do for the most part and they pretty much stayed true to it, and we just executed,” Suh said. “That was the biggest thing.”

The rushing total of 131 yards was helped by the end-around to Alshon Jeffery (27 yards) and Forte’s one long burst.
