A report that Lovie Smith has interviewed for the vacant USC head coaching position has “zero truth,” a source close to the former Bears head coach told CSNChicago.com, and was also reported by Jay Glazer at FOX Sports.

Smith told Glazer that he had not interviewed for the job and had “zero interest” the position that came open when Lane Kiffin was fired a month ago by athletic director Pat Haden.

The initial report of him interviewing with USC was filed by Jason LaCanfora of CBS. Smith has evinced no known interest in college positions and is expected to return to the NFL either as a head coach or defensive coordinator.
