The lack of interest in Matt Forte on the part of the Bears became official on Friday when Forte confirmed that the Bears would not be attempting to re-sign him when free agency opens in March.
Replacing Matt Forte has been hugely problematic virtually since his arrival to Chicago as the Bears’ second-round pick in the 2008 NFL Draft.
The Matt Forte era has come to an end in Chicago. Forte announced on his Instagram account Friday morning that the Bears have informed him that they won't be re-signing him in free agency.

DETROIT (AP) Jay Cutler threw for 257 yards and a touchdown and helped seal the game with a late scramble, and the Chicago Bears kept their playoff hopes alive - for now - with a 26-24 win over the Detroit Lions on Sunday. Chicago (10-6) still needs a Minnesota loss to...

DETROIT (AP) Chicago is without linebacker Brian Urlacher for its must-win game at Detroit on Sunday. The Bears need a victory and a Minnesota loss to make the playoffs, but Urlacher is inactive with a hamstring injury. He hasn't played since Dec. 2. Running back Matt...

CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) Wade Collie made a layup with 14 seconds to go after a steal by A.J. Hess, and Southern Utah escaped with a 51-50 victory over Northern Colorado on Saturday night. Collie finished with 13 points for Southern Utah (4-7, 2-0 Big Sky), and Jackson...

WACO, Texas (AP) Baylor has suspended post player J'mison Morgan because of a violation of university policy. Bears coach Scott Drew said in a release Saturday night that the 6-foot-11 Morgan, a fifth-year senior who has played only one game this season, will not return...

The Bears must take care of business Sunday against the Lions, but if the Packers are to take care of business, too, it's a good thing Aaron Rodgers is in Minnesota.

Brandon Marshall's been targeted 175 times this season, while all other wideouts have only been targeted 129 times combined. The reason? Jay Cutler says he doesn't know.
