There is no doubting head coach Chris Collins and his Northwestern basketball team earned its 49-43 win over No. 23 Illinois on Sunday. The team’s first Big Ten victory of the season will likely provide a significant boost of confidence not only on the court for the rest of 2014, but could also give Collins and his coaching staff an added bounce in their step on the recruiting trail.
The win is unique because for the first time in quite a while the Wildcats and Fighting Illini don’t have a regular season rematch due to the new Big Ten scheduling format.
Monday’s SportsTalk Live panel chatted about where the Northwestern basketball program is today and how winning against the Illini may have an even bigger impact than some would think.
