Ex-Illini star Brandon Paul is going to play for his hometown team. At least he will this summer.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Paul will play on the Bulls' summer league team in Las Vegas this summer.

The Bulls are giving the former orange-and-blue sharpshooter a shot, something he did an awful lot of during a four-year stint in Champaign. He finished his college career as the eighth leading scorer in school history with 1,654 points. He averaged 16.6 points per game during his senior season and shot 40.1 percent from the field and 32.5 percent from 3-point range.

Only two players ever played more games in an Illini uniform than Paul.

Paul, a graduate of Warren Township High School, went undrafted in last summer's draft and played summer league ball with the Timberwolves. He briefly played in Russia before playing two games in the D-League, where he suffered an injury that knocked him out for the remainder of the year.
