Jerry Kill has the Minnesota football program going in a pretty great direction, and the school has rewarded him for his rapid turnaround job.
The university announced Friday that Kill received a one-year contract extension, which will keep him as the team's head coach through the 2019 season.
Kill has turned in back-to-back impressive eight-win seasons, two of the just 19 seasons of at least eight wins in the program's long history.

Last season, Kill was named the Big Ten Coach of the Year after the Gophers came within a win of reaching the Big Ten Championship Game, and that's what Kill & Co. have their sights set on this season.
Kill has also done a good job cranking out NFL talent. He's had six players drafted in the last two years: Ra'Shede Hageman, Brock Vereen, Maxx Williams, Damien Wilson, David Cobb and Cedric Thompson.
