Jump shots are John Groce's specialty. Though now he can add octave jumps to his resume.
The Illinois head basketball coach showed off his arm with a ceremonial first pitch before Saturday's Cubs-Orioles game at Wrigley Field. Then he showed off his voice during the seventh-inning stretch with his own rendition of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame."
And though the performance featured a few surprise notes and key changes, much like his first pitch it didn't reach comedic levels.

It's all in good fun, and Groce's Illini players should appreciate the fact that instead of screaming instructions during practice this season he can sing them.
Earlier this week, Illinois released its full basketball schedule for the upcoming season. Groce and the Illini get the 2014-15 campaign going with an exhibition game against Quincy on Nov. 7 at the State Farm Center in Champaign. The regular season starts a week later against Georgia Southern.
