Michigan and Michigan State will get to show off their skills at Soldier Field.

No, the Big Ten didn't move the football championship game to the home of the Bears. Instead, this meeting will take place on ice.

The Wolverines and Spartans will play outdoor hockey on the lakefront as part of the Hockey City Classic on Feb. 7, 2015. Miami (Ohio) and Western Michigan will also play.

The first outdoor hockey games at Soldier Field were played as part of the 2013 edition of the Hockey City Classic. Wisconsin and Minnesota, as well as Notre Dame and Miami (Ohio), played in those games. The Blackhawks famously played the Pittsburgh Penguins last season at Soldier Field as part of the Stadium Series.

The two Big Ten schools are longtime collegiate hockey factories, but they both played last season in the inaugural season of Big Ten hockey. The first-ever Big Ten hockey tournament was held in March in the Twin Cities, with Wisconsin taking the first conference title. The Wolverines and Spartans were both eliminated in the first round.

This will be the third Hockey City Classic, after the 2013 edition at Soldier Field and last year's in Minneapolis at TCF Bank Stadium, the home of the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
