Earlier this week, Marian Hossa welcomed the Stanley Cup to Slovakia and did what any champion would do: He ate pierogies out of it.
But the fun didn't stop there.
Prior to the start of the Stanley Cup Final between the Blackhawks and Bruins, Hossa talked about the big upcoming matchup against his neighbor, Zdeno Chara.
That's right, the 6-foot-9 Bruins captain happens to be a neighbor and good friend to Hossa. So when the celebration hit their street, Chara got in on the action and even took photos with the Stanley Cup.
I'd have to imagine that stings a bit for both Chara and the Bruins' fanbase. But like Hossa predicted, these two went right back to being friends again at the end of the postseason.
Back in early June, we even got a taste of their on-ice relationship: "I try to joke with him because he like to be serious all the time on the ice," Hossa said, laughing. "I know he doesn't like to talk on the ice. I try to throw some funny stories on the faceoff, make him laugh a little bit."
I'd bet Hossa found a joke or two to throw in at his party, too.
