Teuvo Teravainen will center Bryan Bickell and Patrick Kane, and Corey Crawford will likely play the entire contest when the Chicago Blackhawks host the Detroit Red Wings in their first preseason game tonight at the United Center.

Coach Joel Quenneville said he'd like Crawford to play three of the Blackhawks' six preseason games. Nikolai Khabibulin should get two and Antti Raanta should get one.

For the Blackhawks, tonight is an opportunity to showcase some of their younger players who are vying for the few remaining open spots on this roster.

"Guys like playing. And whether it’s first exhibition game, first regular-season game, there’s always that excitement in the air," Quenneville said. "It’ll be a good measuring stick for some guys and a good part of our evaluation process seeing a few guys tonight."

Neither Marian Hossa nor Jonathan Toews will play tonight. Both are fine. Quenneville said Hossa is expected to play Thursday against Pittsburgh while Toews is more likely to play his first preseason game this weekend.
