It wasn’t looking too good for the Blackhawks through the first half of their second-round series against the Detroit Red Wings. But Jonathan Toews was echoing comments made by most of his teammates when he said, prior to Game 5, the Blackhawks were not getting down.

“What’s there to be down about? Obviously we’re not where we want to be in the series but feeling sorry for ourselves isn’t going to do anything,” Toews said at the time. “We had a great season all year for a reason. We’re going to stick to what helps us win hockey games.”

[RELIVE THE MAGIC: The Blackhawks' "2013 Road to the Cup"

Three games later, the Blackhawks had erased what looked to be certain early elimination and a very long, question-filled offseason. Monday, we’ll relive those victories again on Comcast SportsNet Chicago.

The Blackhawks wrapped up their long same-conference/division rivalry in style back in May, coming back from a 3-1 deficit to topple the Wings and continue their trek to the Stanley Cup. On Monday, watch Games 1, 5, 6 and 7 of the Blackhawks’ Western Conference semifinal victory over the Wings.

It was a rollercoaster of a series for the Blackhawks, from their three-game losing streak – the first and only one they’d suffer in the regular- and postseason – to Niklas Hjalmarsson’s disallowed goal in the waning minutes of Game 7. In this series, the Blackhawks’ mental mettle was tested as much, if not more, than their physical one. With their season on the brink of a premature end, they tapped into past experiences, had some productive team talks and turned the series in their favor.

“We kept our eyes on the long-term result we wanted,” Toews said after that Game 7 victory. “It’s never over until it’s over, and we proved that in this series.”

It was an unforgettable ending to a rivalry that had its share of those moments through the years. The Blackhawks prevailed; enjoy watching them do it again.
