After the Los Angeles Kings continued their bid to become repeat Stanley Cup champions with their 2-1 Game 7 victory over San Jose Tuesday night, the NHL released a Conference Finals schedule scenario.
With the Blackhawks winning Game 7 against Detroit Wednesday night, they'll host the Kings in Games 1 and 2 of the Western Final Saturday afternoon and Sunday evening.
The back-to-backs are caused by the Rolling Stones concerts scheduled at the United Center Friday and Monday nights.
The NHL chose the back-to-backs over a Saturday-Tuesday start. Following this weekend, the series will be played out with games every other day, beginning with Game 3 Tuesday at Staples Center.
Here's how the Blackhawks schedule versus the defending champions plays out (all times Central):
Game 1: Saturday, June 1 at United Center, 4 p.m.
Game 2: Sunday, June 2 at United Center, 7 p.m.
Game 3: Tuesday, June 4 at Staples Center, 8 p.m.
Game 4: Thursday, June 6 at Staples Center, 8 p.m.
Game 5*: Saturday, June 8 at United Center, 7 p.m.
Game 6*: Monday, June 10 at Staples Center, 8 p.m.
Game 7*: Weds., June 12 at United Center, Time TBD
The series reflects a rugged travel schedule for both teams, a difference for the Blackhawks after their first two series were played against relatively close geographical opponents, Minnesota and Detroit.
The upcoming series will be shown on the NBC Sports Network, but in case you're not near a TV for any games throughout the series, you can catch all the action online with NBC's live stream.
