Blackhawks assign 2013 first-round pick Hartman to Rockford

On Saturday the Blackhawks announced that they have assigned forward Ryan Hartman to the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League.

The Blackhawks drafted Hartman with the 30th overall selection in the first-round of the 2013 NHL entry draft.

Hartman, a native of West Dundee, scored 25 goals and added 28 assists in 52 games for the Plymouth Whalers of the OHL this season. In five playoff games, Hartman registered four assists.

Hartman was a product of the U.S National Development Team from 2010-2012. In 59 games from 2010-12, he recorded 19 goals and 17 assists.
