Blackhawks extend Brandon Mashinter's contract

On Wednesday the Blackhawks announced they have agreed to terms with forward Brandon Mashinter on a two-year extension through the end of the 2015-16 NHL season.

Mashinter, who was acquired from the New York Rangers on Dec. 6, has 11 goals and 23 assists with the AHL's Rockford IceHogs. Prior to the trade, he appeared in six NHL games with Rangers and tallied a goal and seven assists with the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack.

The 25-year-old has appeared in 23 career NHL games with the Rangers and Sharks and has registered 158 points in 316 career AHL games. Mashinter was signed by San Jose as a free agent in March of 2009.
