Another outdoor game for the NHL apparently means another outdoor appearance for the Chicago Blackhawks.

The Blackhawks will face the host Washington Capitals at the 2015 Winter Classic on New Year’s Day, as first reported by TSN’s Bob McKenzie on Friday morning. The Washington, D.C.-area venue where the game will be played has yet to be determined.

It is the second time the Blackhawks will participate in a Winter Classic game; they hosted the 2009 installment, at Wrigley Field, against the Detroit Red Wings. It’s also their third outdoor game overall and second in as many seasons, with their hosting a Stadium Series contest March 1 at Soldier Field against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The league was reportedly set to trim down its outdoor-game schedule this season; after having six in the 2013-14 season, they’re expected to have just two in 2014-15.

The NHL is expected to release its full 2014-15 regular-season schedule on Sunday afternoon.
