The Blackhawks returned to the United Center for the first time in over a month on Tuesday, but their performance against the Avalanche didn't go as they'd hoped as they fell 4-2 in front of a home crowd. Tonight the defending champions will look to bounce back against the Blue Jackets.
The Blue Jackets (32-25-5) currently stand in fourth place in the Metropolitan Division and are coming into tonight's matchup following three straight wins (including back-to-backs) against the Panthers, Maple Leafs and Stars.
And while the Blackhawks remained rather quiet leading up to the trade deadline, the Blue Jackets were busy at work, acquiring Matt Frattin, Nick Schultz, Dana Tyrell and Matt Taormina, plus a couple of conditional draft picks, as they made headlines by sending Marian Gaborik to the Los Angeles Kings. Tonight they'll put their new roster to the test as the Jackets look for their fourth straight win.
This will mark the first matchup between the Blackhawks and Blue Jackets this season; Chicago's won its last 11 games against Columbus.
Blackhawks: Patrick Kane (27G, 37A), Patrick Sharp (29G, 32A), Jonathan Toews (22G, 37A), Marian Hossa (24G, 26A), Duncan Keith (3G, 46A)
**Note: Blackhawks are without Hossa as he continues to recover from an upper-body injury.
Blue Jackets: Ryan Johansen (24G, 24A), Brandon Dubinsky (12G, 26A), James Wisniewski (5G, 32A), Nick Fogliano (16G, 18A), Cam Atkinson (18G, 15A)
Although both teams have yet to announce their starting goaltenders, it's likely Corey Crawford will be in net for the Blackhawks and Sergei Bobrovsky will be in for Columbus. Bobrovsky's recorded a .917 save percentage and 2.52 goals-against average in 41 games played this year, going 15-4-1 in his last 20 decisions.
