CALGARY, Alberta – Marian Hossa is back with the team after tending to a family matter and Antti Raanta will get the start tomorrow night when the Chicago Blackhawks face the Calgary Flames at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

Hossa met the team in Calgary after returning to Chicago Saturday morning, when his wife went to the emergency room with an illness. His wife, who he said had a difficult labor with their second child a few weeks ago, was discharged from the hospital yesterday. Hossa said she’s feeling better.

“You love hockey so much but family is the most important thing for me and, I’m sure, everyone here,” he said. “As soon as something like this happens, you want to be there for them.”

The Blackhawks are slowly returning to health. Michal Handzus returned to the lineup on Monday night against Edmonton and defenseman Michael Kostka could play again soon. Kostka told coach Joel Quenneville he felt good after today’s practice, but it’s unlikely Kostka would play Wednesday night against the Flames.

Meanwhile, Raanta is ready to get his first NHL start. It won’t be totally new to him, given he played two-plus periods against the Colorado Avalanche to start this trip.

“We’re excited about him getting into the net,” Quenneville said. “It’ll be a good challenge for him, a good test.”

Johnny Oduya, who blocked a puck off the inside of his left knee on Monday night, did not practice today. While Oduya finished that game against the Oilers, Quenneville was not sure of Oduya’s status against Calgary.

Jeremy Morin was reassigned to the Rockford IceHogs.
