Blackhawks' Sharp to assist in ringing of NYSE's opening bell

Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Sharp will make two New York City appearances this week to assist the NHL with promoting the Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic, the 2014 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic and the four-game 2014 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series.

The first appearance will be Friday at the New York Stock Exchange. Sharp, will assist in ringing the opening bell along with eight other NHL players including Jimmy Howard of the Detroit Red Wings and Ryan Kesler of the Vancouver Canucks.

The second appearance by the Blackhawks alternate captain will be at the Rockefeller Center’s Top of the Rock Observation Deck.

The Blackhawks will face off against the Pittsburgh Penguins at Soldier Field in the fourth and final game of the NHL Stadium Series on March 1.

Comcast SportsNet will have coverage of the beginning of Blackhawks training camp at the University of Notre Dame starting with the team press conference on Wednesday, Sept. 11.

The season begins Oct 1 against the Washington Capitals.
