ST. LOUIS -- St. Louis Blues captain David Backes, who was injured on a hit from Brent Seabrook at the end of Game 2, was back in the lineup for the Game 5 against the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday night.
Backes was hit high by Seabrook late in Game 2 on Saturday afternoon. Backes struggled to stay on his feet as he got up after the hit, for which Seabrook was suspended for three games. The Blackhawks defenseman is eligible to return for Game 6 on Sunday.
Coach Ken Hitchcock wouldn't rule Backes out after Friday morning's skate, in which Backes didn't participate. Said Hitchcock, "If he's skating in the warmup, then you can all press send on your tweets and away you go."
When Backes came out for warmups, he was greeted by loud cheers from Blues fans. Backes centered T.J. Oshie and Jaden Schwartz in warmups.
