It's been just four seasons since former NHL defenseman Chris Chelios laced up his skates with the AHL's Chicago Wolves at the tail end of his career.
Now the franchise may see its first father-and-son tandem as 23-year-old Jake Chelios signed a professional tryout contract with the St. Louis Blues' affiliate.
After spending four years at Michigan State and most recently playing for the ECHL's Toledo Walleye, Jake Chelios will make the jump to the AHL and wear No. 24 for the Wolves — the same number his dad wore with the Detroit Red Wings.
Chris Chelios tallied five goals and 17 assists in 46 games with the Wolves during the 2009-10 season. He spent 27 years in the NHL playing for the Montreal Canadiens, Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings.
