It's no secret anymore what obstacles Corey Crawford had to overcome last season. The Blackhawks goaltender cruised through the regular season with a 19-5-5 record and capped it off by earning 16 more wins in the postseason to capture his first Stanley Cup.

But Crawford is ready to turn the page on a new chapter and is eager to get back on the ice.

"It was a short summer obviously ... it was a good time but it's time to get back to work and start playing hockey again," Crawford said on SportsTalk Live.

With a short offseason and a compressed upcoming schedule, entering the 2013-14 season mentally and physically prepared is important, especially for a goaltender.

"I think you have to step away from all the partying and all the fun that was going on during the summer and really take time to do your workout and make sure you're ready physically and mentally too," Crawford said. "You want to take enough of a break where you're not coming into the season mentally tired. You got to be ready to go and I thought that was the most important thing."
