VANCOUVER, B.C. – Marian Hossa will not play as he’s gone back home to attend to a family matter, and Corey Crawford will start when the Chicago Blackhawks play the Vancouver Canucks tonight at Rogers Arena.
Hossa was coming off a lower-body injury when he returned against the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday. But coach Joel Quenneville said Hossa flew back to Chicago “for a family matter today.”
As for the seriousness of the situation, Quenneville said, “we think it’s OK, but I don’t know yet.”
Michal Handzus (upper body) has joined the team here in Vancouver, but he will not play tonight. Quenneville said Handzus could play again soon, perhaps against Edmonton or Calgary.
Crawford will start against the Canucks, who are coming off a 6-2 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday night. The Canucks had lost five in a row before that.
