The Blackhawks will likely be one of the teams affected most by the Olympics after sending 10 players to Sochi.
The Hawks currently sit in third place, three points behind the Anaheim Ducks, in the Western Conference. Before the break, Chicago had been playing well and compiled seven out of a possible 10 points in five games.
Before a Stadium series showdown with the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday night, the Blackhawks will hit the road to battle the New York Rangers on Thursday.
Comcast SportsNet Blackhawks pre/postgame analyst Steve Konroyd joined SportsNet Central to discuss why he doesn't believe the Olympics will affect the Hawks down the stretch.
"We're talking basically half the team that were over in Sochi," he said. "I think they're going to be chomping at the bits, ready to get back and that's a good thing. A lot of guys got away, it was a good time to relax and re-energize. I was down at practice today and they were all business, they really want to get this thing going again."
