NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Marian Hossa was scratched prior to puck drop with a lower-body injury and goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin left with an injury of his own in the first period as the Chicago Blackhawks took on the Nashville Predators on Saturday night.

Hossa was a surprise scratch before the game. When exactly he suffered his lower-body injury is unknown. Khabibulin, meanwhile, was injured with 4:27 remaining in the first period. He went down in the crease, in some pain, slid over to make a stop but then stayed down. It appeared he was grabbing at his lower back. He got up with the help of a trainer and headed to the locker room while Corey Crawford came in to relieve him.

The Blackhawks trailed the Predators 2-0 at the time of Khabibulin's injury.
