The Blackhawks did not enter the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs as the favorite to hoist the Cup, but six-game series wins over both the St. Louis Blues and Minnesota Wild have changed that.
So after two thrilling series victories and a 1-0 lead on the Los Angeles Kings in the Western Conference Final, the question now becomes whether it's Stanley Cup or bust for Joel Quenneville's group.
Both Tom Cooper and Ryan McGuffey say yes:
"Before the playoffs started the road looked like they were going to play the Blues, and then if they somehow survived that series they were going to have to play the Avalanche, who they struggled with the entire regular season. And I don't think anyone though they could get past those two series," Cooper said. "If they don't win the Cup now, that's a massive disappointment because this is basically set up for the Hawks to repeat."
Added McGuffey: "This team, at this point, knows how to win better than anybody. They are the better team, they are the best team for this position of this time of the year for the NHL. I'm with you: It's Cup or bust, it would be a huge disappointment."
