Jarrett Payton's natural athleticism didn't help him out Tuesday night during the Blackhawks-Stars game.

In the first intermission, Payton -- the son of Bears icon Walter Payton and a former star player with the University of Miami and Chicago Slaughter -- took part in the Shoot the Puck. He missed all three shots, but the other two contestants found the back of the net.

"I did my best," Payton joked with CSN reporter Luke Stuckmeyer. "I'm here to support the Blackhawks and my foundation."

The Jarrett Payton Foundation has an anti-bullying campaign and runs football camps.

Payton is currently a radio host at 87.7 The Game, joining Harry Teinowitz and Spike Manton from 3-7 p.m. on weekdays.

"I'm having a great time," Payton said. "WGN is my home. I'm looking forward to having the opportunity to grow with Harry and Spike and see if we can make some magic together. It just feels like where I'm supposed to be."
