There's been plenty of talk about the growth within the Blackhawks' fanbase since the team won its second Stanley Cup in four seasons. We've seen it first-hand, as the team's popularity continues to grow not only throughout Chicago but around the league as well.
In fact there were so many fans donning Blackhawks sweaters within the last year, that it was enough for the Nashville Predators and St. Louis Blues to place restrictions on their ticket sales in an effort to "keep the red out."
Now, the proof of the Blackhawks' growth is in the numbers as NHL.com released its list of the top five jersey sales for the month of October.
"Human highlight reel" Patrick Kane came in at No. 1, followed by captain Jonathan Toews at No. 2. Pittsburgh's Sidney Crosby came in third, followed by Detroit's Pavel Datsyuk at No. 4. But the most surprising result came in at No. 5: Panthers goaltender Tim Thomas.
