1. Don’t get into a track meet with Lightning. This Tampa Bay team has a high-octane offense. They are averaging just a hair fewer than four goals per game at home, which is in the top 5 in the league. You really have to watch the secondary scoring in Valteri Filppula and Teddy Purcell as these guys are highly skilled. Sometimes overlooked, these guys can do some damage.
2. Don’t watch the Stamkos and St. Louis Show. The dynamic duo of Steven Stamos and Martin St. Louis make it happen for the Lightning at home. They have combined for 15 points in the friendly confines of the Tampa Bay Times Forum. Though there is a 15-year age difference between these two, they think alike and at times operate like the Sedin twins on the ice. Four of Stamkos' five assists this year have come on St. Louis goals. Pay special attention to this pair, and make sure you stay out of the penalty box.
3. No let ups in this third period. The Blackhawks did it again Tuesday against the Panthers. They allowed two third-period goals in Sunrise, Fla., and have now been outscored 10-3 in the third so far this year. This trend has to stop, and it started when they played the Lightning almost three weeks ago at the United Center. Tampa Bay scored two in the third to tie and then eventually won the game in a shootout. It might mean playing a little more boring game, but "get the puck deep and get it back" has to be your mantra.
