With the 2013-2014 season approaching, the defending Stanley Cup champions are entering their last victory lap.

Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Nick Leddy was a guest on SportsTalk Live Friday night during “Blackhawks Day” at Comcast SportsNet.

The blue liner addressed the Sports Illustrated NHL preview issue that picks the Blackhawks to repeat as Stanley Cup champions along the pressure that brings.

“Winning the year before obviously the pressure is on us,” Leddy said. “Pressure is a good thing.”

After winning their second Stanley Cup in four years, the Blackhawks have been among the talks of a cap-era dynasty in the making.

“I think it’s pretty cool to be honest,” Leddy said. “Being a part of a dynasty would be really special. It would awesome if that were to happen.”

A Minnesota native, Leddy remembers the first time he went to a Blackhawks game as a child. He was immediately impressed with what he saw.

“I still remember the first time I came down here with my dad and my uncle,” he said. “I was speechless the first time I went to a game. The national anthem and everything. It was pretty amazing.”

With the 2014 Olympics approaching, a chance to make Team USA is something that remains on Leddy's mind, but he isn't letting that get in the way of his job with the Blackhawks.

“It’s something that is on the back of my mind but the Hawks come first,” he said. “My focus is here. If I play well here, it gives me a better chance to make the team there. It all depends on this team and that’s where my focus is at.”

The Blackhawks open the season against the Washington Capitals on Oct. 1.
