The Blackhawks fan base has grown tremendously over the last few years. The average attendance at the United Center is 21,571, which is just behind the Detroit Red Wings for tops at home in the NHL.
Local and national celebrities have jumped on the Blackhawks bandwagon -- winning the Stanley Cup twice in four years will do that -- the past few seasons.
Now, one of the biggest NFL stars is jumping aboard.
On Friday, Carolina Panthers Pro Bowl quarterback Cam Newton was seen rocking a Blackhawks hat at Auburn University while attending class for the spring semester.
Newton, at Atlanta native, no longer has a hometown team to support after the Thrashers relocated to Winnipeg and became the Jets following the 2010-11 season.
The Carolina Hurricanes, who play just under three hours away from the Panthers home stadium in Charlotte, haven't made the playoffs since the 2008-09 season, so it's no surprise that Newton hasn't jumped on their bandwagon yet.
Although Newton may not be a Blackhawks fan and could just really like their logo.
