On Friday, the NHL announced its three stars for the month of December with Patrick Kane headlining the list. Again.

The Blackhawks winger earned first-star honors for the second consecutive month after tallying a league-leading 16 assists and 23 points (tied) as he helped lead the defending champions to an 8-3-3 record throughout December to remain at the top of the Central Division.

Kane recorded at least one point in 13 of the 14 games played, stretching his career-high point streak to 14 games. That marked Kane's second stretch of the season in which he tallied points in 10 or more consecutive games in a single season, making him the first NHLer to do so since Jaromir Jagr during the 2005-06 season, per Elias.

The former Conn Smythe winner now ranks third in the league in goals scored (23), second in points (53), third in power-play goals (9) and is tied for game-winning goals (6).

Pittsburgh's Sidney Crosby and Anaheim's Jonas Hiller earned second and third honors, respectively.

Crosby tied Kane for a league-leading 23 points last month, tallying nine goals and 14 assists to help lead the Penguins to 11 victories in 14 games. Like Kane, Crosby also recorded points in 13 of 14 games played, beginning the month with a 10-game point streak. Seven of those games were multi-point performances.

Ducks goaltender Jonas Hiller posted a 9-0-1 record with a 1.96 goals-against average and .929 save percentage throughout the month to help the Ducks tally an 11-1-1 record to move to the top of the Pacific Division.

Hiller allowed two or fewer goals in nine of 10 appearances, highlighted by a season-high 49-save performance against the Los Angeles Kings back on Dec. 3.

Hiller is now undefeated in regulation in 11 straight games dating back to Nov. 30.
