With the Stanley Cup playoffs set to begin Wednesday night, the NBC Sports Group announced a partnership with Bouchon Bakery to create a more delicious way to introduce fans to the NHL's new postseason format.
Puck Cakes hit the market Wednesday as the bakery is slated to produce more than 6,500 puck-sized cupcakes with edible graphics representing the 16 NHL teams entering the postseason.
"We wanted to celebrate the postseason and help promote the new single elimination bracket format of the Stanley Cup Playoffs." said NBC chief marketing officer John Miller. "Getting to collaborate with Thomas Keller on such a fun promotion was the icing on the cake."
"Often our inspiration is in trying Capture the memory of a favorite childhood food," said Bouchon Bakery chef/proprietor Thomas Keller. "The Puck Cake is no different, as it reminds us of the classic mallomar and the nostalgia of those flavors we enjoyed while rooting for our favorite team."
