Denis Savard was one of many people who partook in painting the Blackhawks logo at center ice at the United Center on Thursday. The Hall-of-Famer had the help of some youngsters thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The Blackhawks are less than three weeks away from their first preseason game against the Red Wings.

The Blackhawks won their second Stanley Cup in the past four years last season. After salary cap issues forced the Blackhawks to get rid of key players from the 2010 team, the team succeeded to bring back most of the team from last year's Cup run, improving their chances at a repeat. The last time a back-to-back championship occured was nearly 20 years ago.

As for the expectations on the upcoming season, Savard's response shouldn't be a surprise.

"The expectations here is to win again," said Savard. "I think our people that play the game for us are character guys, and I know that they'll be ready for it. It's never been done in (about) the last twenty years, might as well be us."

Training camp is set to kick off on Sep. 12 at the University of Notre Dame, and the team returns to the United Center four days later for the training camp festival. The Blackhawks will host Detroit on Sep. 17 in its preseason opener. The Washington Capitals will enter the Madhouse for the Blackhawks' first regular-season game on Oct. 1, when the banner will be raised and title defense begins.
