Andrew Shaw became a cult hero of sorts among Blackhawks fans during the team's run to the Stanley Cup.

The man who coined the term "I love shinpads" while celebrating a game-winning goal brought the Blackhawks much-needed energy and grit during the postseason.

He's well aware of his role on the team and doesn't try to sway too far away from what got him to the NHL.

"It's something I've done my entire career," Shaw said on SportsTalk Live. "I have to keep doing it and if I don't and get away from my game then I'm not effective as I am."

Shaw's point total dipped to 15 during the 2013 season, but the agitator compiled nine points in 23 games during the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The 22-year-old forward would like to build off his point output from the postseason, but his main focus is bringing another Cup back to Chicago.

"I'd love to be more offensive, but it's tough to do in this league," Shaw said. "I'm going to go out there and compete and if I get a few goals here and a few goals there, I'd be happy with it. But if I don't, It's never going to put me down that's for sure."
