The verdict is in and a suspension was dealt: Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Brent Seabrook has been suspended three games for his hit on St. Louis Blues captain David Backes.

The Blackhawks will have some obvious adjustments to make moving forward in their opening-round series. Whether the Blues are forced to do the same still remains to be seen.

On Sunday, Blues head coach Ken Hitchcock told reporters in St. Louis that if Game 3 were today, Backes would not be lacing up his skates. He didn't say whether his captain will be good to play Monday night inside the United Center.

"All I know is he's upright...that's about it right now," Hitchcock said. "We don't have any further information."

The Blues will take the ice Monday morning prior to their Game 3 matchup. More details of Backes' health status will likely be made available then.
